
Partner organizations include: D digital Youth Network, Society of Women Engineers, Grad SWE, Girls Empowered by Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS), Women in Computing (WIC), Center for Bionic Medicine, and The Darkest Horse. WiSTEM provides an opportunity for many Northwestern University student organizations and laboratories to engage with young women in the pipeline. An LLC is a group of students who are focused on a particular area of interest and live together in an on-campus residence hall. The programming has also expanded from monthly meetings to student panels, guest speakers, shadow days, design challenges, outreach opportunities and special events. WISTEM is a 6-month program that requires participants to engage with an on-campus residential component and interactive online sessions. The recipients of the 2020 WiSTEM 2 D Scholars Award are: SCIENCE: Ilse Cleeves, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Astronomy, University of Virginia Cleeves is studying the astrochemistry of planet-forming regions around young stars, exploring how pre-planet chemistry and physics affects a future planets ability to support life. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has two Women in STEM Living Learning Communities for women pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics degrees.

The ETHS student organization has grown from nine to over 140 participants each year. WiSTEM program provides coaching and resources for female undergraduates.

WiSTEM meetings provide a platform for community and conversation by fostering a safe, supportive and encouraging environment for all students who feel like their gender identity is underrepresented in STEM. We believe women can be catalysts for creating healthier people, healthier communities and a healthier world.

Currently serving 60+ schools and 1,500+ girls, WiSTEM builds social networks for female high school. WiSTEM (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is an Evanston Township High School (ETHS) student group that, with the support of Northwestern University mentors and our office, helps facilitate the retention of young women in advanced STEM-coursework. WiSTEM 2 D stands for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design. WiSTEM is an international organization empowering and inspiring young women to pursue STEM.
